To heat them, place the soapstone balls at the bottom of a small, heat-resistant bowl. Pour hot water over the stones until they are fully submerged. Once the water cools to a safe temperature for your hands, remove one of the balls from the bowl. Keep the other ball submerged to stay warm. Dry the stone's surface and, while it's still warm, place it in the shallow recess of the cork base. Set the base on the floor, sit in a comfortable position, and massage the tender areas on the sole of your foot, either crosswise or along the length of your foot. After finishing with one foot, swap the ball in the cork base for the warm one from the water and repeat the process on your other foot. The combination of warmth and pressure is not only extremely relaxing but also pleasantly soothing. The warmth conveyed through the feet has a comforting effect on the entire body.
